The divider to form two superimposed chambers in a letter box has a shelf (1) with a hollow space (2) at its centre, containing two levers (3) forming part of two linkages (4) with stops (5) fitting in guides (6) and ending in stop faces (7) which abut opposing walls of the letter box. The use can actuate the levers to release the stops and allow the shelf to move.
