PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively cool a lamp 5 with small air volume in a projector apparatus which projects picture light by using the lamp 5 as a light source. SOLUTION: In the projector apparatus of this invention, the lamp 5 is installed in a rectangular parallelepiped-like housing 41b and further an exhaust fan 40 is installed in a backward position of the lamp 5. In an upper wall of the housing 41b surrounding the lamp 5, at a position deviated to a direction orthogonal to an optical axis of the lamp 5, an air inlet window 45 is installed and an aperture pattern asymmetrical to the optical axis is given and swirl flow is generated in the housing 41b by operation of the exhaust fan 40.
