[Also in Divisions C2 and F4] Apparatus for drying a solid decomposable water insoluble organic peroxide which is stable at its melting point comprises, in combination, a suspension vessel 1 for forming an aqueous emulsion of the peroxide; a vessel 2 for melting the peroxide while in emulsion form having an opening 11 below the lowest level of emulsion attained during operation, the opening being covered by a portion of a rotatable sieve plate 9 having vanes 17 and holes 18 (Fig. 2-not shown) and rotated, and cleaned by the play of a jet 14 of a hot water line 13 directed onto a portion of the plate adjacent to and not covering the opening, a level regulating device 15, a centrifuge 3 equipped with discharge lines 19 for the aqueous and organic phase and a receiving means (e.g. a drum-drying assembly) for separated molten organic phase. |
