The method involves moving container (2) cranes under the control of a crane automation system between container ships (1) and a stacking point of the container terminal. A PC in the crane automation system receives a stowage plan for the ship's hold currently to be processed by the crane from a dock control computer via a data coupling, e.g. Ethernet. An Independent claim is also included for a crane automation system for a container crane.
