PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and method for diagnosing and calibrating an internal combustion engine. SOLUTION: The method and system and a machine-readable storage medium for determining the predetermined operated condition of the internal combustion engine are disclosed. During operation, the method and system and the machine- readable storage medium measures a cylinder pressure in at least one combustion chamber at a given point of a combustion cycle. Then, the method and system and the machine-readable storage medium use the measured cylinder pressure for determining at least a first value for the operating parameter of the engine and use data received from at least one engine sensor for determining a second value for the operating parameter of the engine, and they generate a preset signal when a difference between the first and second values has a predetermined relationship.
