PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discharge gap switch-incorporated electromagnetic welding machine in which wiring resistance is decreased by shortening the distance between a coil and a capacitor and the entire electromagnetic welding machine is miniaturized by reducing the number of protective covers. SOLUTION: In the discharge gap switch-incorporated electromagnetic welding machine, sheet metals being materials to be welded are overlaid and placed between two coils 4, 5 having a narrow current concentrating section. An electric charge stored in a capacitor 11 is discharged through a discharge gap switch 13 to cause a large current to flow to the coils 4, 5, and the sheet metals are welded. The discharge gap switch 13 comprises a closed electrode chamber 16 accommodating a pair of discharge electrodes 17, 17 and a means for rapidly decreasing pressure in the electrode chamber 16. One terminal of the discharge gap switch 13 is directly coupled to one terminal of the capacitor 11, so that the switch 13 is installed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
