PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To couple a workstation to a remotely located computer. SOLUTION: Signal conditioning units (70) receive keyboard and mouse signals generated by workstations (62, 64 and 66) and generate a data packet which is transmitted to a central crosspoint switch (60). The data packet is transmitted to second signal conditioning units (76) installed in remotely located computers (52, 54 and 56) by the central crosspoint switch. The second signal conditioning units apply keyboard and mouse commands to the keyboard and mouse connectors of the remote computers. Video signals produced by the remote computers are transmitted through the crosspoint switch to the workstations. The signal conditioning units (70) include an onscreen programming circuit (99) that produces menus for the user on a video display device (63) of the workstation. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
