SYSTEM OF DISCOLOURING CLARIFIED LIQUOR USING OZONE FOR THE SUGAR INDUSTRY

A system for decoloration of sugar industry clarified liquors has been developed. Sugar liquors decoloration degrees higher than 90% were obtained employing at least two serial stirred vessels operating in a continuous flow of liquid and an ozone-oxygen or ozone-air mixture ( ozone concentration from 25 to 120mg/l) introduced serial or parallel respect to the vessels. Temperature and pH reaction conditions were kept constant in the serial reactors varying within the ranges:40-80°C and 4,0-8,0 respectively.
