PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for producing an aromatic polyester having a high degree of polymerization, wherein process handling is reduced, the solid- phase polymerization time is shortened, and a reduction in yield due to fine powders is prevented. SOLUTION: This granular wholly aromatic polyester molding comprises mainly a wholly aromatic polyester substantially consisting of repeating units of formula (1) and having a reduced viscosity of 0.05-0.3 dl/g and a heat of crystal fusion, measured by DSC at a temperature rise rate of 10°C/min, of 0.5-60 J/g. It has a specific surface area of 0.001-1 m<SP>2</SP>/g and a bulk density of 0.4-1.3 g/cc. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
