<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a voltage nonlinear resistor that can be baked at a temperature of ≤1,000°C and, to provide a method of manufacturing the resistor, in which the manufacturing process of the resistor is partially improved. <P>SOLUTION: The voltage nonlinear resistor is composed of a sintered compact, obtained by sintering a composition containing zinc oxide and bismuth oxide. The molar ratio between added antimony oxide and bismuth oxide is adjusted to be 0.3-1.5, and the sum total of the bismuth oxide and antimony oxide is adjusted to 1.0-3.0 mol%. It is preferable to add at least one kind selected from among a group composed of manganese dioxide, cobalt oxide, and chromium oxide to the resistor in an amount of 0.5-2.0 mol% as a transition metal oxide. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
