PURPOSE:To record an image on an accurate position of recording paper even if the number of revolutions of a motor is fluctuated by providing a rotary encoder in parallel with a recording paper driver roller and recording the image synchronously with an output signal of the rotary encoder. CONSTITUTION:A rotary disc 102 is fixed on a shaft of an encoder gear 101 in a rotary encoder 81 and a light emitting element 103 and a light receiving element 104 are provided oppositely via the disc 102. The disc 102 is provided with a slit S and a detection signal is generated from the light receiving element 104 when photosensitive paper is carried by one line. The said encoder 81 is interlocked with a recording paper drive roller 10 via gears, a thermal head 1 is depressed on a platen 2 on which the thermosensitive paper is wound, the roller 10 is driven, a recording control circuit 11 applies a recording signal by one line to the head 1 synchronously with a detection signal of the encoder 81 to apply thermosensitive recording sequentially. Thus, even if the number of revolutions of a motor 7 is fluctuated, a recording image with high recording position accuracy is obtained.
