The wheelchair has a steered chassis (3,4,5,6) provided with at least one drive (7), e.g. an IC engine or an electric or hydraulic motor and a frame (2) provided with a seat (8) which can be raised and lowered relative to the frame, the latter additionally raised and lowered relative to the chassis. The seat may be adjustable relative to the frame in a horizontal axis and/or about a vertical axis and may be able to tip relative to the frame.
