<p>A sheet material (14), particularly adapted for fabricating surgical gloves, preferably includes an inner layer (26), an outer layer (28), and a middle layer (30) sandwiched therebetween which are interconnected in the shape of a human hand. A first barrier layer (32) is interposed between the inner and middle layers, and the second barrier (34) is interposed between the middle and outer layers, which, in combination with the inner, middle and outer layers, are effective to resist the penetration by bone fragments, surgical instruments and surgical lasers while retaining sufficient flexibility to provide a surgeon with an acceptable degree of touch and manual dexterity.</p> |
