The roof top for a camping bus (1) is constructed as a longitudinally extended trough-form hood (3) with at least two projecting extension arms (13). Support brackets (6,7) are fitted in the roof gutter region of the bus. The hood by its extension arms can pivot to the side by 180 degrees around a pivot point (15) parallel to the vehicle's longitudinal direction in the support brackets from the position forming a part of the vehicle's roof and in this pivoted position is supported in relation to the ground so as to be used as an additional usable surface. The pivoting of the hood is by way of a hydraulic cylinder (10) provided inside the bus and connected by its bottom point to a sidewall of the bus or to a support frame (8), and by its extendable ram (11) connected to the pivoting lever (12) of a hinge mechanism to execute a pivoting movement by 180 degrees.
