PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect the intermediate condition of the progress of waste toner storage amount in a waste toner container. SOLUTION: The number of writing pixels of writing pixel data transmitted to a laser beam source 51 so as to form a toner image on a photoreceptor is counted by a dot counter 118. The counted number of pixels is integrated by a CPU 111 and the integrated value is stored in the specified area of a RAM 113. The CPU 111 decides the waste toner storage amount in the waste toner container based on the integrated value. The decided waste toner storage amount is displayed on an operation display panel 8 by the CPU 111. When a waste toner fullness sensor 83 detects the waste toner storage amount showing the fullness, such an effect is displayed on the panel 8 by the CPU 111. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
