The oscillator has an amplifying medium (1), an optical switch (2), cavity mirrors (3,4) which selects one or more modes of propagation and a prism (5), which permits the simultaneous redirection of the light wave against propagation, in order to augment the instant lighting of the location within the amplification medium. In these conditions, the extraction of stored energy is restituted in a pulse, whose duration is relatively brief. The rate of extraction is augmented if the waves cause a triple passage in the amplification medium.
