PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To monitor the extent of paper separation at an upstream-side roll. SOLUTION: The apparatus monitors the paper separation at a center roll 102 in the case of transferring a paper downstream while applying a tension to the paper between the center roll (upstream roll) 102 and a transfer roll (downstream roll) 103 adjacent to each other among plural rolls. The paper separation is monitored by a video camera (sensor) 2 to detect the position of the side edge K1 of the paper K between the center roll 102 and the transfer roll 103. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
