PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma display device of high light emission efficiency and low discharge voltage. SOLUTION: A discharge cell of the plasma display device having a plasma display panel with at least a plurality of discharge cells as components thereof comprises an electrode to apply the voltage to the discharge cell, a protective film to cover the electrode at least locally, and discharge gas to form the discharge at least a part of the components. The discharge gas comprises Xenon (Xe) gas at least a part of the components, and the secondary electron emission coefficient gXe+ regarding the Xe+ ion of the protective film is≥0.05.
