PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably suppress a mis-feed and multi-feed and prevent noise and vibration even under an environment where large contact force acts between sheets of paper and the like. SOLUTION: A feed roller 2 and a reverse roller 3 form a paper feed nip portion in between. When only one sheet of transfer paper P enters the paper feed nip portion, a torque limiter 26 operates to allow the reverse roller to follow the transfer paper P rotatively, and when a plurality of sheets of transfer paper enter the paper feed nip portion, the torque limiter does not operate to cause the reverse roller to return unnecessary transfer paper. A rotary shaft of the reverse roller carries two driven gears 24 and 25, and the rotary shaft has a noncircular sectional form. Insertion bores 24a and 25a of the driven gears are arranged so as to fit on the rotary shaft. The driven gears can be thus easily phased with each other to prevent noise and the like generated against a single driving gear in mesh with the driven gears. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
