<p>A method and apparatus for the micro- or nano-machining of a material using the controlled formation of individual cavitation bubbles, by immersing a work piece having a work surface in a liquid, generating a cavitation bubble proximate to the work whereby a re-entrant micro-jet formed during the collapse of the cavitation bubble is directed toward the work surface to effect micro- or nano-machining.</p> |
