PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make accurate decision of propriety of an engine temporary stop based on a steering state without being puzzled by a difference in viscosity due to the temperature change of power steering working oil, in economy running operation of a vehicle. SOLUTION: In the execution of a temporary stop of an engine during economy running operation of a vehicle, when, to decide propriety of an engine temporary stop based on the steering state of a vehicle, a threshold, being a reference of decision for a power steering operating oil pressure, is set, the threshold is increased according to lowerness of the temperature based on the temperature of the working oil.
