PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filter apparatus for separating impurities, having filter efficiency and capable of simply discharging sedimentary impurities sedimented on the bottom part of a filter screen container without requiring troublesome disposal work. SOLUTION: The filter screen container 5 is arranged in a vertical outer cylinder 3 and a raw water inflow port 11 is provided to the upper part of the outer cylinder 3 so as to supply raw water in a tangential direction while a treated water outflow port 15 for allowing treated water passed through the filter screen container 5 to flow out to the outside of the outer cylinder 3 is provided to the lower part of the outer cylinder 3 and a sedimented matter discharge port 9 for discharging sedimented matter to the outside of the outer cylinder 3 is provided to the lower part of the filter screen container 5.
