A tiled flat panel display comprising a carrier plate (1) and a plurality of sub-displays (2), arranged on the carrier plate (1), each having at least one side edge (6, 22) abutting a side edge (6, 22) of an adjacent sub-display (2). The sub-displays (2) are of a light-emissive type. A method of manufacturing a tiled flat panel display comprises the steps of providing a carrier plate (1) and a plurality of sub-displays (2), and arranging the sub-displays (2) on the carrier plate (1) in such a manner that at least one side edge (6, 22) of each sub-display (2) abuts a side edge (6, 22) of an adjacent sub-display (2). Subsequently, at least two adjacent sub-displays (2) are encapsulated with a single encapsulation (25).
