RECORDING MEDIUM AND MANUFACTURING METHOD FOR RECORDING MEDIUM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a recording medium whose practical reliability of running durability, weather resistant preservability and the like are enhanced without damaging electromagnetic transducing characteristics.

SOLUTION: In the recording medium wherein a metal thin film or a metal oxide thin film (2), a protective film (3) and a lubricant layer (4) are formed in this order on one surface of a non-magnetic substrate (1) and a back coating layer (5) is formed on the other surface, the surface of the protective film (3) has ≥40 mN/m surface free energy and at least one compound selected from a first group consisting of compounds having ≥15 mN/m and <33 mN/m surface free energy and at least one compound selected from a group consisting of compounds having ≥30 mN/m and <50 mN/m surface free energy are incorporated into the lubricant layer (4) as lubricant.
