PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filter element reduced in pressure loss. SOLUTION: A net 16 is interposed between upper and lower sheets 11 comprising a nonwoven fabric to form a filter medium 4 having a sandwich structure. The net 16 is constituted of a nonwoven fabric knitted in a lattice-like form so as to have space parts 13 between warp and weft yarns. By these space parts 13, the formed filter 1 can permit a fluid (liquid) to pass without being lowered in pressure loss. Further, activated carbon may be used between the upper and lower sheets 11 in order to form the space parts 13. Furthermore, activated carbon or a silica gel may be provided in the space parts 13 of the net 16 or either one of activated carbon and the silica gel may be provided in the space parts 13 of the net 16.
