<p>A device (1) for converting a rotary input to a linear output comprises a threaded lead screw (2), a housing (3) in the form of a nut assembly (3), and a number of rollers (4) disposed between the threaded lead screw (2) and the nut assembly (3). Each roller (4) has a plurality of annular couplings (14) such as grooves or ribs which conjugate with the threads of the lead screw. A gearing mechanism (for engaging and retaining the rollers (4) in radial engagement between the housing (3) and the lead screw (2)) may include one or more gears (12), (13) per roller (4), one or more gear rings (16) and may also include a plate menber (11) so that torque is effectively transmitted between the nut assembly (3) and the lead screw (2) through the rollers (4) and the gearing mechanism.</p> |
