<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate troublesomeness in reservation of programs with bar codes. <P>SOLUTION: A display controlling means displays the contents of the programs on a television set in such a tabular form as shown in Figure 4 from information captured from an outside source by an inputting means, and the reservation is completed by selecting desired programs from the contents by operating a position-designating means and a setting means. Accordingly, there is no troublesomeness that the bar codes can not be read by repeated scanning of the bar codes, since it is not necessary that the bar codes are scanned with a bar code reader when the programs are reserved. Further, the reservation of the programs can be set comparing them with the programs around them in the table, since the programs are shown in the tabular form. Therefore, even if there are programs whose names are similar to each other, errors in reservation due to misunderstanding hardly occur. It is not necessary to set channels and input a starting time while they were necessary before the appearance of bar code technology.
