PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical equipment which can maintain optical performance and can have its lens barrel made small-sized when no picture is taken and on which an accessory can directly be mounted. SOLUTION: The equipment is equipped with a 1st lens group L1 which constitute the optical system, a driving motor 15 which drives the 1st lens group L1, a 2nd lens group L2 which is provided on the optical-axis image plane side of the 1st lens group L1, a driving motor 11 which drives the 2nd lens group L2, and a control means which controls the driving motors 11 and 15 so that the 1st lens group L2 begins to be moved in after the 2nd lens group L2 is moved in response to an indication of storing the optical system and the 1st lens group L1 is then moved into a space formed by moving the 2nd lens group L2 out.
