PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an azo dye and a tautomer of the azo dye having good hue and light fastness. SOLUTION: The azo dye and the tautomer of the azo dye are expressed by general formula (1). [In the general formula (1), Ar<1> is an aryl group or a heterocycle group. R<1> is H, an alkyl group, an acyl group, an alkoxycarbonyl group, an aryloxycarbonyl group, a carbamoyl group, an aralkyl group, -CN, -CO2 H, -SO3 H, -CO2 M1/n , or -SO3 M1/n , R<2> is an alkyl group, an aralkyl group or an aryl group. M is a metal atom, n is an integer of 1-4.].
