PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a run flat tire having large durability improving effect, while keeping traveling performance during run flat traveling, and obtaining improving effect for riding comfort and a rolling resistance index during normal traveling. SOLUTION: In this run flat tire, a side reinforcing rubber pad 2 generally shaped in a crescent in a cross-section including a tire shaft for reinforcing a side wall SW is provided on a tire inner surface side of a carcass layer 1 folding back around a bead portion 7. Tire thickness W2 at the tire maximum width is 60 to 140% of tire thickness W1 at a rim line position. In the side reinforcing rubber pad 2, not less than 80% of the cross-section area of a cross- section is occupied by low hardness rubber having a hardness HS of 65 to 35 deg. by durometer hardness test (type A) of JISK6253.
