Ingredients are added via a hopper to a column-shaped container (21) which is rotated by a motor during cooking. A cooking device for preparing stir-fried food comprises a column-shaped container (21) held inside a loop (32), a hopper for adding the ingredients, a storage container (6) for the cooked food, a heating section (7) and a stand (55). The column is in the middle of the device and the loop can be used to ensure that the cooked food is removed from the column. A rotary mechanism comprising a motor (43), a transmission shaft and a gear-wheel mounted on the shaft is used to rotate the column in order to stir the ingredients during cooking. The storage container is located beneath the column. The heating section is used to heat the rice or noodles. The stand is used to support and hold together the various parts of the device.
