<p>Transpalpebral iontophoresis medication delivery system, designed to deliver an active medicinal substance to a patient's eye by iontophoresis, consists of a main electrode (2) with insulating and adhesive layers and zones (21, 22) making contact with an eyelid. The main electrode is generally oval in shape, with longer and shorter diameters of about 40 mm and 35 mm respectively. It has an absorbent foam layer that serves to contain the active substance, attached to a conducting layer by a conducting adhesive. The electrode is connected to a current generator (4) with a preferable output of 0.5 to 5 mA and a return electrode (3).</p> |
