PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable information terminal capable of effectively preventing key operations by a third party to the terminal itself without the need for adding particular entry operations. SOLUTION: The portable information terminal 11 such as a mobile phone can register one or more time zones to limit key entry of an operation section 18 to its time storage section 16. A CPU 12 reads a current time from a clock section 21 and limits key entry of the operation key section 18 while the current time is included in any of the registered time zones. Thus, even when other people are going to use the portable information terminal 11, the people cannot use the portable information terminal 11 for the registered time zones. When a limit release time comes, since this limit can be released, the operator can release the limit of key entry without the need for any particular operation.
