MANUFACTURING METHOD FOR COLOR CATHODE-RAY TUBE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color cathode-ray tube having a one-directional tension type shadow mask hardly causing wrinkle and doming thereon and having superior damping characteristics. SOLUTION: This manufacturing method for the color cathode-ray tube is formed by welding and tensioning a shadow mask original plate to a frame 30 while applying a one-directional tensile force to the shadow mask original plate 20' formed with multiple electron beam through holes therein and removing parts outside the welded part 24 of the shadow mask original plate. A plurality of openings 28 with a direction inclined to the tensile force applying direction set to the longitudinal direction are formed in the region outside the welding planned part 24 of the shadow mask original plate. When the tensile force is applied to the shadow mask original plate, a force stretching the shadow mask original plate in the direction orthogonal to the tensile force application direction is generated by the openings 28 to hardly cause the wrinkle and doming and improve the damping characteristics.
