PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To highly densely record/reproduce information by generating a strong electromagnetic field in a very small area on a recoding medium by a simple structure and through its mutual electromagnetic field operation. SOLUTION: Light is emitted through a transparent member 9 to the vicinity of a metal surface 10 of an optical probe 4 close to a recording medium 5, a local electromagnetic field is generated to concentrate the energy of the electromagnetic field in the very small area of a recording layer 12 of the recording medium 5, a very small recording mark of a light diffraction limit or lower is formed on the recording layer 12 through a mutual electromagnetic operation, and highly dense recording/reproducing is carried out. |
