PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an IR absorbing film having an IR absorbing layer that can be formed by water system coating, has high water resistance and strength and exhibits the same absorption wavelength as in a state in which it is dissolved in a solvent and to provide an imaging material or a heat-developable photosensitive material using the film. SOLUTION: 1) A water-based coating composition comprising a latex impregnated with an IR absorbing compound and an aqueous polyester and 2) a water- based coating composition comprising a latex impregnated with an IR absorbing compound and a polymeric latex having an active methylene group are provided. The above IR absorbing film is obtained by applying and drying the compositions on a substrate film.
