PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform GPS positioning by remote operation from an emergency call center. SOLUTION: When an emergency call switch is pressed, a call is requested to the emergency call center by the portable terminal for emergency call. By transmitting a response signal from the emergency call center, a speech link is formed between the both. After the end of speaking, a GPS positioning request command is transmitted from the emergency call center by a DTMF signal. In the portable terminal for emergency call, with which this command is received, GPS positioning is performed and longitude/latitude information is converted to a DTMF signal and transmitted to the emergency call center. Thus, even when GPS positioning is disabled by physical disorder in case of emergency, a caller can perform GPS positioning through remote control.
