PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation system Which can indicate plainly the relation between the distance and time related to a destination. SOLUTION: Map information read from a CD-ROM is displayed on a map screen (a) to match the current position measured by way of a GPS receiver. A distance axis H is drawn on a time screen (b), and the current time is displayed in a predetermined position E on the distance axis H. The position F of a destination is determined in proportion to the computed distance to the destination, and the estimated time of arrival is displayed in that position. Next, with the distance axis H regarded as a time axis, a position G where scheduled time is to be displayed is set at the corresponding time position to display the scheduled time. Thus in addition to the map screen, the time screen (b) displays time information related to the distance information on the same axis, making it easy to understand the relation between distance and time to help the driver make judgment on driving. |
