METHOD OF EXAMINING LIVER CELL CANCER USING POLYMORPHISM OF IL−1βGENE

In patients with hepatitis C virus infection (involving those suffering from liver cell cancer and those having no liver cell cancer) and normal control subjects, relationship between IL−1&bgr; gene polymorphism and the occurrence of liver cell cancer is examined while correcting the effects of other clinical confounding factors. As a result, it is found out that the IL−1&bgr; gene polymorphism relates to the occurrence of liver cell cancer after the infection with hepatitis C virus. By detecting the IL−1&bgr; gene polymorphism, the occurrence of liver cell cancer due to the infection with hepatitis C virus can be estimated. Thus, a more economical and effective strategy for preventing and treating liver cell cancer can be established.
