<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control method that can obtain impartiality and high throughput without the need for complicated arithmetic processing in a communication device having an input buffer switch fabric with a virtual output queuing in its inside and handling fixed length or variable length data. SOLUTION: In a switch state diagram (101) where an i-th row indicates an incoming line i, a j-th column shows an outgoing line j, and elements (i, j) express the number of data with an exchange request from the incoming line i to the outgoing line j, queuing states (102 to 104) by each row and each column are monitored. An evaluation function is calculated from the queuing state, an exchange permission right (105) is issued to any of each row or column, and the row or column obtaining the permission right uniformly selects (106) any element belonging to the row or column. The row and column to which the selected element belongs are masked (107), and the procedures above are repeated to schedule exchange between incoming lines and outgoing lines.</p> |
