PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve stability when mounting on a board by making the cross section of a core circular, shortening the length of a wire to reduce DC resistance, and forming a flange so as to have a polygonally shaped flat surface or the like suitable for surface mounting. SOLUTION: By using a rotating wheel 30 for imparting a torque to a side face of an element body 10 to be used as a core for an inductance element and a grinder 31 for cutting a core 11, the grinder 31 for cutting is placed while rotating the element body 10 to form the core 11 by cutting. At this time, the contact width of the rotating wheel 30 brought into contact with the element body 10 is made narrower than that of the grinder 31 brought into contact with the element body. The rotating wheel 30 is brought into contact with a portion cut as the core 11, and this portion is supported by a blade 32.
