PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a liquid crystal cell, by which a liquid crystal material adhered to the liquid crystal cell to be left after a liquid crystal is injected can be removed in the comparatively short time and reliably. SOLUTION: The manufacturing method for the liquid crystal cell formed by encapsulating the liquid crystal 20 between a pair of substrates 12 and 14 by a sealing material 22 comprises an encapsulating stage for encapsulating the liquid crystal material on the inner side of the sealing material and a removing stage for removing the liquid crystal material left on the outer side of the liquid crystal cell after the encapsulating stage. The removing stage comprises a first stage for imparting a washing liquid to the liquid crystal cell and a second stage for blowing a gas, especially a compressed gas to the liquid crystal cell. The liquid crystal material in the area whose three sides are enclosed by the pair of substrates and a sealing wall can be removed in a comparatively short time by this constitution. The liquid crystal material can be reliably removed, if a rinsing stage is further performed after the removing stage.
