A fibre is spun from a melt blend of 95-50% of polyamide A and 5-50% of polyamide B, A having a second order transition temperature of up to 120 DEG C. and a m.p. of at least 180 DEG C. and B having a second order transition temperature of at least 140 DEG C. and being a copolymer of hexamethylene isophthalamide and at least 1.5% of hexamethylene 5-tert-butyl-isophthalamide units. A may be hexamethylene adipamide. Delustrants, antioxidants and photostabilizers may also be present. The product may be used as tow staple, tyre cord, carpet pile, twill taffeta and other woven and knitted fabrics.
