A novel process, which is industrially favorable and nondetrimental to the environment, for producing methylcobalamin useful as drugs, etc. More particularly speaking, a process for producing methylcobalamin characterized by comprising reducing cyanocobalamin or hydroxocobalamin in the presence of a reducing agent and, after the completion of the reduction, adding a water- soluble methylating agent followed by methylation.
