SOLUTION: This nonaqueous secondary battery is equipped with a negative electrode composed of at least a lithium-silicon alloy and carbon and a positive electrode composed of at least a metal oxide lithium compound, where the charging quantity of the negative electrode is controlled to be lower than the utilization percentage of the negative electrode calculated from the related formula: utilization percentage(%) of negative electrode = [4199&times;&beta;/100&times;&alpha;/100+372&times;(1-&alpha;)/100]/[4199&times;&alpha;/100+372&times;(1-&alpha;)/100]&times;100, where &alpha; is percentage(%) of silicon content, 0<&alpha;<=70, and &beta; is percentage(%) of silicon utilization, and 0<&beta;<=45.
