PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the S/N ratio of image signals, read out from a solid-state image pickup element with an electric charge intensifying shift register, with respect to an imaging method and a device by using the solid-state imaging element with the electric charge intensifying shift register. SOLUTION: A part of living body texture 1 is irradiated with pulse-like excitation light and the image of the fluorescence produced by the living body texture 1, irradiated with the pulse-like excitation light, is received by the solid-state imaging element 20, with the electric charge intensifying shift register and fluorescent image signals representing the fluorescent image are obtained by photoelectric transfer. The fluorescent image signals are read out, at a frame rate which is higher than 60 frames/sec and lower than 1500 frames/sec.
