The profile strip (10) has a moulded-on, strip-shaped protective strap (30) for one of the surfaces. The protective strap can be deformed so that it can be adapted to fit a part (94) projecting out from the surface. This deformab-ility can be obtained by providing the protective strap with at least one notch (88) formed on its rear side. The notches may divide the protective strap into strip-shaped sections.
