PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner for a vehicle capable of demonstrating the cooling capacity corresponding to the change in the cooling load. SOLUTION: A first evaporator 13a is operated exclusive for a first floor, a second evaporator 13b is operated exclusive for a second floor, and a third evaporator 13c is commonly used for the first and second floors. If the cooling capacity is insufficient on the first floor, the insufficient cooling capacity on the first floor is supplemented by supplying the air cooled by the third evaporator 13c to the first floor. If the cooling capacity is insufficient on the second floor, the insufficient cooling capacity on the second floor is supplemented by supplying the air cooled by the third evaporator 13c to the second floor. Thus, the cooling capacity corresponding to the change of the cooling capacity can be demonstrated, and excessive cooling indoors can be prevented in advance while correcting unbalance in the cooling capacity generated between the first and second floors.
