PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recorder provided with a means for cleaning the wiper of an orifice plate so that the orifice plate may be cleaned sufficiently even in industrial or business application. SOLUTION: An ink jet recorder comprising an ink jet head for discharging ink from orifices is further provided with a wiping means for cleaning an orifice plate, i.e., a plane of the head where orifices are formed, and a means for cleaning the wiping means wherein the wiping means is arranged to be cleaned by the cleaning means on the recorder.
