The invention relates to conveyance by mail, first and foremost using existing post offices and telecommunication networks, and more specifically to the design of automatic postal devices for receiving and dispatching mail and to input units i.e. keyboards for automatic postal devices, personal computers and similar electronic apparatus. The aim of the invention is to develop devices and methods for transmitting the mail in a shortest time possible ensuring the confidentiality thereof, provide an addressee-user with the possibility to dispatch the correspondence on the mother tongue thereof, provide information input units with novel functional capabilities. The aim is reached by using the automatic postal devices for receiving and dispatching the mail and by applying variable symbol keys for input units of the automatic postal devices, personal computers and other electronic devices.
